Do It Yourself:
We find a growing number of clients enjoy putting travel and holiday packages together via the web, and indeed, there are some savings to be made through DIY. If you decide not to use an agent for travel arrangements, we're happy to help if we can. We've included below some hyperlinks that will help with travel needs. Please note these are just useful suggestions, and we have no relationship with these service providers.

Arriving in France:
There are many routes you can use, particularly arriving from Australia, depending on the airline and perhaps included stopovers. However, in your arrangements, we do ask you to consider the following:
1. Our change over day is Sunday to Sunday - departure 10am check-in 2pm. Most chalets and hotels generally change on Saturday and the road congestion can be...interesting. Sunday by comparison is quite delightful. Max is able to be your personal ski host by arrangement, showing you the best snow and runs available. For lessons, these can be arranged through the local ski school (ESF).
2. Arriving from the UK and Europe, airports at Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva all have good cheap flight deals, with Chambery being the closest and quickest access to Chalet Chez Max. From Australia, Paris CDG airport with a connection to Lyon airport is the most convenient. The TGV (fast train) from Paris CDG down to Bourg St Maurice is also excellent and takes about the same cumulative time as internal airline transfers, depending on timetables. Bus transfer from Lyon or Geneva to Bourg St Maurice is efficient, around 3 hours with a change at Moutiers station.
3. If your holiday plans include car hire, the trip down from Paris takes about 6 hours drive time and from Geneva allow 2 1/2 hrs. The new autoroute works really well, but you can also take roads either side of Lake Annecy - lovely drive. Lyon is a little over 2 hours by car. Moutiers is only 30 minutes from Chalet-Chez-Max and car hire companies are just across from Moutiers train/bus station. NB: Have some euros for the toll on the motorways and remember Saturdays can be jammed up with massive change over traffic.
4. Geneva - transfers take longer than Lyon and you can get shut out with blizzards on the high pass. The roads are kept clear normally butoccassionally nature has the final say. Lyon doesn't have this problem, as it is much lower. You can however, link up via train from Geneva toMoutiers but again, it takes longer than the Lyon option. I repeat the the TGV from Paris CDG is definitely a pleasant option, albeit my tripsare now without a mountain of luggage.
5. Don't bring your skis from the UK or Southern Hemisphere - I've found that the extra hassle (i.e. some airlines may want to charge you excess) and just carting them around doesn't add up. Resist the temptation to look cool with skis at an airport - the more baggage you have, more potential hassles. Ski boots -ok- pack them if you are in love with them, but the same deal applies as for skis. We use an excellent ski hire shop in Ste Foy and the crew will really take care of you. Whilst the hire charge is definitely an extra holiday price tag, you'll thank me for this one - i.e. boarding trains with bags and skis, or leaving room for presents on the way home.Travelling by car? Pack what you like!
6. Be absolutely ruthless packing. From experience, favourite bits I've lugged all the way to France turned out to be useless weights in my bag. If you forget something, I'm sure we'll find a replacement - no worries!
At the end of the day - you choose. You know what you want out of your holiday and our tips above are intended as useful suggestions only. Please email or call us if you'd like more information, or consult with your travel agent.
