Sainte Foy - rated No. 1 resort by the Sunday Times:
Not massively big, but it has it all. Great skiing and riding both on and off piste, especially the latter when other resorts are tracked out. Expect smaller lift prices and queues; you can see the resort (Ste Foy) from the chalet just above the hamlet of La Thuile.
Les Arcs / La Plagne (Paradiski) 8 min - access Villaroger.
New gondola link (Vanoise Express) now provides a truly impressive combined ski domaine between the two resorts, with easy to follow well linked runs for all levels and snow persuasions. Powder hounding through the trees is a must, and the tree lined pistes offer good skiing in poor weather (visibility). The trail down from the top of L'Aiguille Rouge (3225m and massive 2000m drop)is recognised as one of the best and longest in the world according to The Guardian's Alf Anderson, citing this area of Les Arcs as in the world's Top Ten.
Val d'Isere / Tignes (Espace-Killy ) 12 min - access Tignes
This area has some of the most challenging skiing in the French Alps, and hosted the World Cup last year.
Val d'Isere enjoys a world class reputation through reliable snow cover and position of high altitude, in addition to the awesome skiing.
La Rosiere (15 min Espace San Bernardo)
Good skiing for intermediates and families with access to drop into Italy (La Thuile Italy) for lunch. This is truly a great experience and you don't need your passport. The whole area combines a massive number of piste and off piste options with Mont Blanc as a back drop and appearing to be just arm's length away! The Tarentaise (Vallee)Valley and surrounding region offers what must be one of the best range of snow sport options and experiences in the world. And the luxury catered Chalet Chez Max is a great place to choose as a base to savour those delights.
